  Hello Chloe,

It is not clear exactly what your concern is. If you are worried about what is best for your fifth mare when the other four ponies are out hacking you may wish to put her in a stable with a haynet to keep her occupied while her friends are out of the yard.

If you would like to discuss your situation in more detail please do not hesitate to call our office on 01626 355969.

Thank you, Sian

Apart from your page on Facebook, do you have a group organised on FB for people who take an interest in your activities and can share information ?

  Hello Rosamund,

Thank you for your query. I'm afraid we only have one official facebook page. We are however, on twitter - please feel free to follow us, either through the link on our facebook page or by searching for Mare&Foal Sanctuary.
Thank you,
Sian

I was wondering if you used physiotherapy to help rehabilitate your horses. If so what exercises/equipment do you use. Could you also give some examples as i am doing a project on the use of physiotherapy in the equine industry
25 January 2012

  Hello Susanna,
Yes, we often use Physiotherapy to help with the rehabilitation of our horses. We have horses with many different types of physical problems, and which type of exercises we use will depend on the individual horse. We work closely with our Vets, Physiotheraspists and Farrier to decide on a programme for each horse. We use a lot of carrot stretches and massage always under direction and on some of our horses we use detailed training programmes of lungeing using equipment such as the Pessoa training aid and polework.
If you would like any further information or more detail about how we rehabilitate our horses please do not hesitate to phone the Sanctuary on 01626 355969.

hi would a mare that previously had foals produce milk last minute as i have a mare who 3 weeks over and still no milk
24 January 2012

  Hello Zara,

Thank you for your email. We would always suggest that if you have any concerns regarding pregnancy and foaling that you contact your vet for advise. They will be able to come out to visit your mare and to check her over to make sure everything is progressing as it should. If you would like any further advise please do call us on 01626 355969.

Good luck with your mare and foal!

Sian

zara
hi what bedding do your mares foal on as one on webcam looks like shaving
20 January 2012

  Hello Zara,

Most of our mares are bedded on shavings but when they are nearer to foaling we would always use a straw bed. It is more natural and also does not tend to get stuck to everything during foaling.
The mares that you can see on the webcams are not due to foal until spring/summer of this year so we will be keeping a close eye on them for any signs such as change in behaviour, or producing milk or wax buildup on their teats.

Thank you,
Sian
