Sanctuary welcomes Grand National investigation

WITH the British Horseracing Authority’s Chief Executive Paul Bittar expected to meet with animal welfare groups this week to discuss the Grand National, the Mare & Foal Sanctuary welcomes the Authority’s decision to carry out further investigations following the death of two of the horses in this year’s race. Magnificent Seven Adoption Horses Have a Rootin’ Tootin’ Good Time

THE MARE & Foal Sanctuary is hugely grateful to all the families who made it out to the Visitor Centre at Littlehempston at the weekend to help our seven Adoption horses and ponies celebrate at their Wild West-themed birthday party – complete with their very own birthday cake! Family fun at our Wild Westcountry Adoption Horses Birthday Party this weekend!

WE are holding a Wild West-themed birthday party for our Magnificent Seven Adoption horses and ponies this Sunday (April 1) between 10am and 2pm at our Visitor Centre at Coombe Park, Littlehempston, near Totnes, TQ9 6LW.

Entry is free and children will love the games we have planned – among them our Rattlesnake Egg Hunt, Panning for Gold, a Fancy Dress Competition and Catch ‘Wild Bill’. The Gift Shop and Cafe will also be open on the day and there will be a chance to watch staff mounted games – all, of course, in Wild West costume. ... Read Article...

Rehoming ponies enjoy seaside splash

HAVING recently treated rescue ponies Topaz and Josie to a trip to the seaside, this time it was the turn of 21-year-old Bay Thoroughbred Cross New Forest mare Gemma and four-year-old Dartmoor Hill Pony filly Thorn to take a dip off Paignton beach. Life’s a beach at Paignton as ponies await rehoming – see them at the Sanctuary tomorrow!

MOST people in Devon choose to live here partly because of their love of the sea and sandy beaches – so too, it seems, do our ponies!

Topaz and Josie are just two of our beautiful ponies for whom we urgently need to find new loving homes to free up space here a the Sanctuary so that we can rescue some more!

As a treat, prior to tomorrow’s Rehoming Day here at the Sanctuary – 10am -2pm at our Visitor Centre, Coombe Park, Littlehempston, near Totnes – we took them for a race along the sands at Paignton Beach and a splashabout in the sea. ... Read Article...
