We are on Cash in the Attic and Celebratory Mr and Mrs

Some exiting news for everyone to look out for. The Mare and Foal Sanctuary will be on T.V. this year. We are taking part in two shows.

Firstly, we are waiting to hear from the television company who produce Cash in the Attic. We spent three days filming for this, had a lot of fun with the lovely and professional film crew. Jennie Bond was our presenter and we were thrilled to have her – lots of our stable girls admire her and she was so lovely to us non-professionals. Jonty was our expert and I never realised how tall he was, he made me feel quite small.

I had collected a lot of bits and pieces over the years. My mother started giving me “Wade Whimseys” which are quite collectable nowadays. I had the first ones when I was seven years old. Brian and I were also moving to a smaller house so needed to clear out some items of furniture etc.

One of our trustees had a solarium and I was very keen to get one for our horses. They make such a difference to the older horses and warms them up during this current weather. I believe it makes a bit difference to their blood flow and digestion. Horses or ponies with a touch of arthritis can benefit a great deal too.

We have been told that it will be shown in January or April this year, so keep tuned. My son-in-law, Jim (Syra’s husband) is also keen on antiques and he was a great help as I am not very television friendly.

Then we had an extra bonus. We got a call from the company making “Celebrity Mr and Mrs” which is due to be shown in the Spring. The celebrities taking part on our behalf are Andrew Sachs and his wife Melody and they named us as the Charity to benefit from their winnings. Andrew is a wonderful actor and was loved by everyone in Fawlty Towers and many other productions. I am a great fan of “Manuel” that wasn’t an easy part and if you look at other productions he has been in then you will understand what a great actor he is. They have raised £5,000 for us.

When I looked his web page up – I found he was born on the same day as me, the 7th of April. Speaking to them both, I found out that they were both animal lovers and have dogs which Melody adores.

We are all looking forward to seeing both productions. Bit nervous about my part as I was quite terrified and shaky. Jim however took it all in his stride.
