Directions and Map to Coombe Park

The Sanctuary is still based at Honeysuckle Farm but our visitor’s centre is 20 minutes away called Coombe Park Equestrian Centre, which is famous amongst the local horse people as it has a large indoor arena and held many memorable events. We keep our Adoption Ponies there (but do check to make sure if you’re coming specially to see one!) as well as many we’re hoping to rehome. We’re also holding more of our own events there, including some exciting new ones, as well as continuing rental of the Arena to local groups where possible.

Please note: If you’re interested in rehoming one of our horses and want to meet a particular, please fill out a questionnaire and make an appointment first as otherwise we cannot guarantee the horse will be ready for viewing when you arrive. If you just wanted a look, no problem – come along.

Less abled access: There’s disabled parking in front of the arena. It is on a slope so if you have difficulties exiting your vehicle please alert a member of staff or ring us and we can direct you to a more level area.

Most public areas on the site are accessible to wheelchairs but the main car park and some of the field lanes have loose surfaces which may make pushing a wheelchair difficult. If you require assistance please ask a member of staff.

  • No dogs allowed except for guide dogs.
  • All children must be supervised closely – not every horse is safe with inquisitive fingers. This also applies to adults and be careful walking around behind horses, they can kick with no warning.
  • NO SMOKING! on any of our property.
  • Feeding the horses. They are all on specialist diets and since some of the horses are under medication any additional food may be harmful. Please don’t offer any food without first asking a member of staff whether it is ok.
  • Please don’t litter. Not just because it means we have to pick it up, but a crisp packet can kill a horse if it gets caught in its windpipe or digestive system. Devon is beautiful, keep it that way.
  • Do not touch the horses unless a member of staff indicates it is safe to do so. Some of our horses have behavioural problems, some are wild – you won’t know which so please err on the side of caution.

Please enjoy your time in the stables and ask a member of staff if you wish to know anything!
