What do horses eat?

The original diet of horses was probably grass and wild plants/herbs, In the wild they roam for miles and eat quite a varied diet but in captivity they are usually kept in grass paddocks so we have to feed them the nutrients that are lacking in the grass.

Also if they are in work, pregnant or elderly they need extra food.
