Construction and Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

This role is based at Honeysuckle Farm, Newton Abbot although you will be required to travel to our Yelverton and Upcott Sanctuaries for project work

Salary Band: G.5 £29,313 (pro rata) with core hours of 37.5 per week – fixed term for 12 months

This role reports to the Head of Property and includes leadership of a General Builder who reports into you.

Please note that this role is subject to a DBS check, and you will be required to provide proof of your right to work in the UK.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading a team in performing general building and maintenance work across all charity properties, including retail outlets, warehouse, sanctuaries, and offices.
  • Conducting regular inspections to identify and address any structural or maintenance issues.
  • Managing and carrying out repairs, renovations, and construction projects as required.
  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard, following health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborating with other team members, including sanctuary and retail teams, to plan and prioritise work.
  • Sourcing and managing materials and subcontractors when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and report on progress using the Shire system.

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a General Building Supervisor or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of building techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance work.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead a team, work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to lead and work within a team.
  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel between different sites.
