Staff pulling out all the stops for Open Day

Our staff, horses and ponies have been busy rehearsing for this year’s extra special 25th Anniversary Mare & Foal Sanctuary Open Day.

The event, on Sunday, August 6th, attracts hundreds of people and over the last few weeks we’ve been busy preparing for the big day – to celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the Sanctuary becoming a registered charity.

Our Coombe Park Visitor Centre will be transformed, with trade stands, riding displays and demonstrations in the indoor arena.

Visitors will get the opportunity to meet some of our beautiful horses and ponies and there will be a bouncy castle, games and face painting for the little ones.

Executive Director Syra Bowden said: “It’s always a lovely day out for the family and it gives us the chance to show off our beautiful horses and ponies, as well as show the progress they’ve made since coming to us.

“You would not believe many of them were completely unhandled when they first arrived. Now they’re happily getting involved in everything from agility training to riding displays.

“They love meeting new people and really get into the swing of things. It’s a great day out and visitors are helping us to help the hundreds of abandoned, mistreated or orphaned horses in our care.”

The fun starts at 10am at our Visitor Centre near Littlehempston, just off the A381 between Newton Abbot and Totnes.

We’d love to see you…
