Diangelo and Mason’s dams had health problems when they arrived in foal at the Sanctuary in 2018. One of the mares was underweight and was assessed by an equine nutritionist to ensure that we could provide her with the support she needed during birth.
The mares were monitored 24 hours a day in our foaling stables and grooms slept in an adjacent room so that they called provide emergency care if necessary.
Special infrared CCTV cameras were placed around the stable block so they could be watched without interference.
Thanks to the dedication of our experienced grooms, they both gave birth to healthy – and very lively – young colts.
Three years on, Diangelo now stands at an impressive 16hh.
