We’re back with our hugely popular Happy Hooves Pony Club – and this time it’s including sessions for older children.
We runs Happy Hooves throughout the Easter and Summer holidays and tickets rapidly sell out to pony mad primary school children aged five to 10.
So our great Education Team set about launching new Horse Wise sessions, open to youngsters aged 11 to 16 and chock full of activities at our Coombe Park Visitor Centre near Totnes.
Both are an introduction to practical pony care and activities include making haynets, tack cleaning and grooming some of our fabulous – and cheeky – ponies.
Happy Hooves will be running on Wednesday 10th and 17th of April, between 10am and 12pm, and includes fun arena games, mucking out and pony themed craft activities including decorating horse shoes.
Horse Wise will be running on Thursday 11th and 18th of April, between 10am and 12pm, and the older children will get the chance to work with our ponies – in hand – in our giant indoor arena.
Education Manager Dawn Neil said: “Last year we had loads of people ask if we could do the same sort of thing for older children and so we’ve developed a slightly different range of activities, including lessons on pony care.
“We love holding these holiday events because the children get a real kick out of learning about our ponies and spending time with them.
“The sessions are a wonderful introduction to life in a stable yard. It’s also great fun to get some hands-on experience to make your youngsters feel like true equestrians.”
The sessions cost £15 and include a certificate and rosette to take home.
