Honouring our volunteers

Today marks the start of Volunteers’ Week and were acknowledging all of our amazing volunteers who help us carry out our vital work to help horses and ponies in need. From our shops to our events, our volunteers contribute everything we achieve at the Sanctuary and we wouldn’t be here without their support. Although our volunteers have been unable to help during COVID-19, we hope to welcome them back soon.

Education and therapeutic learning opportunities are a vital part of the Sanctuary’s work, and our horses and ponies are perfect for helping people in need.

No one understands this more than Jenny Wright, who volunteers for the Sanctuary and helps mentor some of the young people taking part in our sessions. Jenny said: “When I first came to the Sanctuary, I was bowled over by all the effort that had gone into setting up the equine assisted learning and therapeutic work.

“It’s very rewarding to be able to use some of the things I have learnt through my career. Everything at the Sanctuary feels well planned and personalised to the individual children and young people taking part. It really makes a difference.

“The team seems to really appreciate my previous experience and the Sanctuary really makes you feel like you’re a part of something incredible. Volunteering helps to make me feel useful and just being thanked makes all the difference. “I’m glad to be a part of it and I’m so impressed by the hard work of everyone at Coombe Park. They’re going to help a lot of young people.”

Volunteers are vital to the day to day work of the Sanctuary, and without them we couldn’t continue to provide the level of care that we do. A huge and heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers for everything you do.
