IONA is being rehomed as a NON RIDDEN COMPANION
IONA is a very sweet natured mare with lovely manners. She is very easy to handle, good to catch and with the farrier.
Iona was wild on arrival at the Sanctuary and as with many ex-wild ponies she responds best to quiet, calm but confident handling.
Iona does have sweet itch which is manageable with the use of the appropriate rugs and lotions.
In every respect Iona is a real sweetheart to handle and be around. She is good in the herd and interacts well with other horses. Iona was broken to ride, however we have found that she remains anxious in traffic so we'd like to find her a companion home now. Ideally, she needs a home where she will be a field companion and will not be expected to go anywhere. She doesn't load well, so a local home (to TQ12) would be ideal, so our team can deliver her.
She is happy to be left by herself whilst others are ridden, making her the ideal companion.
We are looking for a special, long-term home for Iona as we really think she deserves the chance to find her forever home.
