Recently Beth Orchard Mitchell, Team Leader from our Coombe Park sanctuary, attended the Horses Inside Out annual conference. This is a chance for professionals across all areas of the equine sector to meet and contribute ideas and best practice.

The two days of the conference were packed full of inspiring presentations from industry leading experts covering a myriad of topics including equine neuroscience, nutrition and the equine microbiome, bit fitting, infectious diseases and much more.

Beth was able to communicate some of the amazing work we do here at The Mare and Foal Sanctuary, including our worming protocol. We are very proud of what we have achieved around worming and shared this as a poster presentation at the event. This was very well received and has been picked up by other organisations as an example of best practice.

Beth shared her insights about the conference: “I was particularly pleased with how well our work about worming was received and I’ve left the conference knowing that we are helping to make a difference through what we do. There was a strong focus on adopting a ‘whole horse approach’ and recognising that everything is connected. The whole horse approach highlights the importance of developing a team of professionals that work collaboratively to maximise the health and welfare of the horse. This is something we are very committed to at The Mare and Foal Sanctuary so it was great to hear others talking about it too.”
