Sponsoring the National Equine Forum

We are delighted to share the news that we will be one of the official sponsors of the upcoming National Equine Forum (NEF) in March 2022. As we will both be celebrating 30th anniversaries, it seemed fitting that we should give back to NEF this year.

For 30 years the Mare and Foal Sanctuary has given lifelong, life-changing loving care and support to horses and ponies.

Over that time, we have rescued over 1,000 horses, ponies and foals guided by our values of kindness, care and knowledge.

Since the charity began, our aim has been to rescue, train and rehome horses and ponies whenever possible. We now have over 450 equines on loan to carers through our Sanctuary at Home scheme and around 170 living in our peaceful sanctuaries. More and more owners are turning to us when they need advice. We offer no-shame support to any horse or pony owner who needs it. Last year, we gave 229 separate episodes of advice resulting in positive welfare outcomes.

From November 2020 to October 2021, we delivered over 880 hours of equine assisted learning. Our equine assisted learning programmes are evidence-based and independently evaluated for their impact. We are members of the Federation of Horses in Education and Therapy International (HETI) and the UK Human Equine Interaction Register (HEIR).

As we move into our 30th anniversary year we are continuing to move forwards and expand. We have big plans for our new high-intensity welfare unit at Coombe Park. This will be a whole new building and will give a permanent home to our horses and ponies with complex, long-term health needs.

We are proud of the impact that we have made over the last 30 years and excited about what we will be able to achieve during the next 30. Thank you to all our supporters who have made this journey possible.
