May is a lovely pony with a bold little character so she would be best suited to a new home where her handlers are experienced with younger equines.

May is being rehomed as a non ridden companion.

May is a lovely pony with a bold little character so she would be best suited to a new home where her handlers are experienced with younger equines so she can continue with her training and ideally where she will not need to be around small children.

May has been relaxed when left on her own in a stable so may be suitable as a companion for a ridden horse or pony, however this would need to be built on in a new environment, allowing her time to settle.

Although May is being re-homed as a companion, she is active and enjoys going on walks and could do horse agility. May loves to go for walks and see lots of new things, she’s confident and is generally good to handle, catch and with the farrier.

Due to her type, May is looking for a home where her weight can be managed. With correct grazing, shelter and rugs she would be happy living out 24/7 but equally could be stabled for part of the time. She will need a home with solid fencing as she does not respect electric fencing.  She does have sweet itch, a windy, exposed or coastal site would be the best match for her, however, this is not essential.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
