Stanley is a lovely sweet little boy with a sensitive nature that requires someone that can take the time to get to know him, with a quiet and understanding approach. Stanley has had a previous issue with injections and vets and has subsequently been trained using positive reinforcement and clicker training which has been extremely successful and this would need to be continued regularly by any sanctuary at home carer. We are able to provide training and support for this.

Stanley can live out all year round with mares or geldings but would need to have his weight watched and be restricted as necessary to avoid obesity. His ideal home would be with another pony with similar requirements. He gets a little itchy in the summer and a little chilly in the winter so needs appropriate rugs to help with this.

He’s ok being left by himself as long as he has hay or enrichment to occupy himself. This would need building up in a new home.

Stanley has Cushing’s so is on daily medication for this and will need ongoing monitoring.
He also requires six monthly dentals to be carried out by a vet, so he is being rehomed on our Prime Pastures scheme, where we can contribute towards the cost of this.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
