Teyah is a confident pony, and she would be best suited to someone who is experienced with youngsters as she will need her training to continue in her new home.

Teyah is progressing well with her training, she is anxious when having injections and has subsequently been trained using positive reinforcement and clicker training and this would need to be continued regularly by any sanctuary at home carer. We are able to provide training and support for this.

If someone had the right experience, she could be backed and start ridden work when fully mature, equally, she would make a lovely companion pony or in hand agility pony. She is quick to learn and has great potential. However, would not be suited to being handled by children.

Teyah has developed Sweet Itch so this would need to be managed, a windy, exposed or coastal site would be the best match for her, however, this is not essential. Although she can be stabled, if stabled for long periods, she has suffered from a locking stifle, so ideally a home where she can be out as much as possible. Being a native pony, her weight will need to be managed.

She is respectful of electric fencing and is happy to be left behind in a stable when other horses are worked, making her the ideal companion pony.

Please note: Teyah will have a rider weight limit of 7stone based on her size and weight. Her rehoming fee is £75.

Become a Sanctuary at Home Carer

To help you become a Sanctuary at Home Carer, we have a dedicated team managing our scheme and their job is to help find the right equine for you and then support you throughout your rehoming experience.

Our Pathways

We have three rehoming pathways within our Sanctuary at Home scheme. These are:

Prime Pastures

This scheme enables us to rehome horses and ponies with long-term medical conditions that are manageable. You'll be required to help support their condition with regular monitoring and we contribute towards the costs of their veterinary treatments.

Foster

Working alongside us to socialise and train young or rideable horses for future work in our education programmes. You'll help provide a home setting for these horses to mature before returning to the Sanctuary for further assessment. We work closely with you to keep up to date records of their training, achievements, milestones, setbacks and all aspects of their care.

Standard

Means you help provide a sanctuary at home for as many years as you can for a horse or pony from our charity on a loan basis.
