About The Mare and Foal Sanctuary

The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is the largest equine charity in the South West peninsula, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of horses and ponies in need. Based in Devon, we have 4 specialist sites, including a specialist veterinary and welfare assessment centre. We also have an active programme of educational events for horse owners and a multidisciplinary equine assisted learning team.

We are looking to expand our retail offering over the next few months and continue to build our two online platforms that raise much needed funds for our work.

About the role 

We are currently looking for a commercially aware, pro-active, caring Assistant Shop Manager to be responsible in assisting in the running our Newton Abbot, Queen Street Shop

This is an exciting opportunity to help create a unique shopping experience, maximising profits and recruiting volunteers to help us raise valuable funds for our work rescuing and re-homing horses and ponies in need.

We are looking for an Assistant Shop Manager with flair, imagination, and creativity. We want someone who can visually deliver an amazing shopping experience, use the shop Facebook page to entice customers online as well as in person.

The ideal candidate will have a retail background, preferably within the charity sector and/or will have some knowledge of stock sorting and management, volunteer recruitment and team building.

You will oversee all aspects of the day to day running of the shop and you will do your utmost to create customer loyalty and to raise public perception of our charitable work.

The responsibility of the shop, your team and customers will be with you to develop and grow with clear guidance from your supporting manager.

The role is part time, working 7.5 hours per day, 3 days out of 7 days each week.

This role is £9.89 per hour plus contributory pension, an employee assistance program and 30 days of annual leave (including bank holidays).
