We help celebrate student success at Bicton College

We were delighted and honoured to be invited to hand out the prizes at this year’s Bicton College Awards ceremony.
Our Head of Equine Sally Burton and Head of Education Sally Page donned their finery to present diplomas and certificates to the talented students of the college’s Equine Department.

The students, who have been studying horse care and management, picked up several awards, including top equine student and most improved student, in classes ranging from riding to anatomy.
More than 150 people gathered in a marquee on the grounds of the beautiful Bicton House on the Bicton Park Estate near Exeter to join the students celebrating their hard work over the last year.

College Team Leader for Equine and Veterinary Nursing, Alex Robinson-Barr, said: “It was great to be able to share this event with the Mare & Foal Sanctuary.
“Our students get to learn everything from stable management to horse welfare and who better to help us with today’s celebrations than a charity dedicated to looking after ponies and horses with kindness, care and knowledge.”
In her speech to the students, lecturers and proud parents, Sally Burton said: “Horses give us so much and at the Sanctuary we believe they are companion animals – like dogs and cats – and that we owe them…
We owe them compassion, we owe them kindness but most of all we owe them time…the time it takes to learn how to provide the happiest and healthiest lives possible.”
And we know the talented students at Bicton agree with us….
