Operational Support Officer

As our Operational Support Officer, you’ll be the administrative backbone of our Retail Department, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Reporting to our Retail Area Manager, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our operations on track and compliant with our policies.

About The Mare and Foal Sanctuary

The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is the largest equine welfare charity in the South West peninsula dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of horses and ponies who have suffered neglect, abuse and trauma. We also deliver a range of Equine Assisted Services with our rescued horses and ponies. The Mare and Foal Sanctuary has five sites across Devon, a clear five-year strategy and is ambitious for the future.

About the Role

This role is based in Brunel, Newton Abbot and has core hours of 12 per week.

Please note that this role is subject to a DBS check, and you will be required to provide proof of your right to work in the UK.

Salary Band: H.1 £23,400 (pro rata)

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Tackling various administrative tasks like filing and data processing with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Supporting our Retail team with day-to-day tasks and being their go-to person for any help they need.
  • Troubleshoot issues as they arise, using your problem-solving skills to keep things moving forward.
  • Taking ownership of our quarterly Gift Aid claim, ensuring it’s processed correctly through our ePos system.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed, from gathering information to helping with analysis.

Being a reliable support system for our Retail team, offering assistance and keeping things running smoothly.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational abilities to keep everything in order and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs like Word, Excel, and Outlook, with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • A team player mindset, always willing to pitch in and contribute to the team’s success.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a knack for keeping projects on track.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
