The Mare and Foal Sanctuary is the largest equine charity in the South West peninsula, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of horses and ponies in need. Based in Devon, we have 5 specialist sites, including a specialist veterinary and welfare assessment centre. We also have an active programme of educational events for horse owners and a multidisciplinary equine assisted learning team.

As the PR and Campaign Manager, you will be at the forefront of raising The Mare and Foal Sanctuary’s profile and messages among campaign target audiences and the general public. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing PR strategies, managing media relationships, and leading impactful advocacy campaigns.

This is a hybrid role with a nominated base at Olympus Business Park, Newton Abbot and core hours of 37.5 per week.

Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and you will be required to provide proof of your right to work in the UK.

Salary Range Band E – from £36,234

What You Will Be Doing

Strategic Planning
Working closely with colleagues in the Fundraising and Communications Team, you will plan, create, and execute compelling PR and campaign content for various media outlets including print, digital, and broadcast channels.

Media Relationship Management
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, coordinating briefings, meetings and interviews, as needed.

Crisis Management
Collaborate with the Director of Fundraising and Communications to implement crisis management plans and effectively handle potential negative media coverage.

Campaign Development
Lead the development and implementation of advocacy campaigns, including working with subject matter experts to create impactful campaign materials.

Storytelling
Collaborate with the Content team to highlight stories of people’s lived experiences with our charity, creating content for media outlets and campaign channels.

Celebrity and Influencer Engagement
Develop and execute a strategy to engage high-profile individuals to amplify our message across various platforms.

Spokesperson Briefing
Provide clear and strategic briefings for spokespeople, including employees, celebrities, high-profile supporters, and individuals with lived experiences.

Event Coordination
Coordinate attendance at regional and national shows to raise awareness of our charity and campaigns.

Budget Management
Manage the budget related to your work, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Monitoring and Evaluation
Monitor media coverage and evaluate the effectiveness of PR and campaign strategies.

What you will bring:

Experience
Extensive experience in managing PR and campaigns, consistently securing high-profile coverage for an organisation.

Media Relationship
Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with journalists, celebrities, influencers, and individuals with lived experience to generate impactful coverage and PR opportunities.

Advocacy Campaigns
Experience in planning and executing advocacy campaigns, mobilising campaigners, and engaging supporters.

Collaborative Approach
Ability to work seamlessly within integrated teams, collaborating across departments and projects.

Communication Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messages.

Organisational Skills
Highly organised with a keen attention to detail, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
